1. WebTrust is a service provided by CICA
Developed by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA). WebTrust provides assurance that the web site owner has met established criteria related to business practices, transaction integrity, and information processes.
2. WebTrust was created to establish trust between customers and service providers online
It was developed to create trust between customers and service providers online
When a potential customer engages with an organization online, they risk their security by providing their personal information. WebTrust has set globally recognized standards to ensure that appropriate procedures are followed when sensitive transactions like e-commerce transactions and communication takes place between consumers and companies conducting business on the internet.
3. Webtrust is based on 5 principles:
